Having Lately Launched An American Version Of The UK's Number One Property And Travel Show, A Place In The Sun, On Discovery's Speed Network, I Am Often Asked What I Suspect The Differences Are In The North American Versus The Brit Version Of This Program.

Having latterly launched an American version of the UK's number one property and travel show, A Place in the Sun, on Discovery's Speed network, I'm often asked what I suspect the differences are in the American vs the Brit version of this programme. My answers go beyond creative choices in TV programming : A Place in the Sun is about exploring the idea of living in another country, in another culture and taking on the escapade of a new way of life in a new land.

It's a common perception that North Americans travel abroad less than most Europeans and Australians. This idea that American citizens may initially be less excited to embrace the idea of investing in property, or relocating for some important part of time in a foreign country, should come as not much of a surprise. Originally, I believed that these hurdles were likely logistical, but the more experience I've had in this area, the more I have recognised they are principally mental.

My own journey continues to teach me that the advantages of foreign travel and exploration completely outweigh the costs and there has never been a better time for USA citizens to rethink what percentage of their bounds are self-imposed.

According to one study conducted by Expedia, only 38 percent of Americans took the vacation time allotted to them in 2010, which is low even by American standards. Doubtless, a high rate of unemployment and a struggling economy has given to Americans ' uneasiness, giving them another "reason" to stay home. It should go without saying that folk who do not even take their vacation days are probably not excited to venture further outside their comfort zone right now, without some strong encouragement.

My challenge is to remind spectators that people who are far more informed, more aware and more adaptive are overpoweringly wanted, and rewarded, by bosses in a competitive work force. And, just as significantly, I would like to evoke my audience the payoff is the point of view gained through a rather more worldly experience that will lead on to a satisfied existence overall. I understand that the fundamental format of the show is simply a property search, but the larger picture in each episode is this deeper search.

So , that has been my focus in the revised American format, to concentrate on not just how Northern Americans go about relocating in these various, interesting, global locations, but why. Accepting an invite into the unknown means taking on unfamiliar territory, literally and figuratively, and demanding individual expansion of one's self. You learn to evolve and get more aware and informed in the course of any given day's discoveries. Cultural immersion includes the type of education that cannot be acquired from books.

Nobody could have explained to me the meaning of adventure in New Zealand, the magic feeling of the old town of Dubrovnik or the passion for holistic living I witnessed in Belize. For the short term money so many believe they are saving avoiding airplane fare, they are forgetting the lower cost of living and regularly higher standard of living that they could be able to achieve somewhere else. And while living abroad use to regularly mean being no longer in touch, in the current day's wifi-and-Skype world it's hard to be anywhere that isn't quickly transformable into a virtual office or remote communication center.

International relocation doesn't have to mean leaving your life behind. It means taking your life to a whole new level moving forward.

In the end on the American version A Place in the Sun, I'm guiding a controlled number of clients to foreign countries in the midst of a bigger journey that may light the way to an investment in a property abroad. What I hope that the bigger number of spectators take away from the each episode is a peaked curiosity to expand their own horizons and consider what else is out there to experience. I'm going to supply a window to a bigger arena of chances. My guarantee is by using TV if you will use your vacation days, and I'm hoping we will be able to get re-inspired about both as reported tagza.com.
